Meet Steve

I was born on September 23rd, 1971 and have lived in Southern New Jersey my whole life. I work in the casino industry in Atlantic City, 'The World's Favorite Playground.' I live with my partner Brad, who I met on February 4th, 1999. It was the best day of my life, and have been on cloud nine ever since. I have always been an avid reader with a burning desire to write something of my own. I always knew deep down that I could write something if I put my mind to it, but never had an idea to write about. In January of 2001 I bought a book that was highly recommended on a booksellers web site. After reading that book, A Better Place I was so moved that words still cannot describe my true feelings. Thinking I was just another fan I emailed the author Mark A. Roeder, and told him how his words made me feel and that I had always wanted to write and tell a story of my own. To my amazement he answered my email the very next day and encouraged me to sit down and put pen to paper. He also offered his advice on any questions I could ever have. With that in my mind an idea hit me and I sat down and started to write. I had numerous questions and once again turned to Mark, who valiantly answered them all. With a good idea and encouraging words, my first novel had been born.

SteveBrad.jpg (73636 bytes)When I first started writing chapter one it was very much an autobiography of my own life. In the first Chapter where Daniel lives is exactly where I used to live, and his feelings are very much what mine were. Then as I continued with other chapters the story began taking on a life of its own. The main character Daniel still is very much like me in certain aspects of his life. Especially the character Cristal, she represents my first best friend that I made when I moved to Whalers Cove. Although the friends that I had made there were more spread out over the community, I wanted more of closeness to my characters so I felt they should live closer together. When the book is finally finished readers who personally know me will notice that things that happen in the book did actually happen in real life, but have been changed around and fictionalized a bit more. I enjoy writing as much as I enjoy reading, but unfortunately have not had time to read lately. Writing had taken up a lot of my free time, and I write every spare chance I get.
